Tulare County theaters will be full of cinematic gifts this holiday movie season

After the last two years of depressing holiday movie offerings � we're talking Nazi war criminals, slain politicians, failed marriages, drug-addicted wrestlers, abused Indian orphans and the Apocalypse � Hollywood has mostly lightened up this season.
This year's lineup of holiday films mostly avoids dour films for escapist family offerings. There's the latest chapter in the "Harry Potter" (Nov. 19) and "Chronicles of Narnia" (Dec. 10) franchises, as well as the annual big Walt Disney animated romp ("Tangled" on Thanksgiving weekend).
There's also a big crop of romantic comedies, including a delightful romp ("Love and Other Drugs" on Thanksgiving Day) about a Viagra salesman.
The holiday movie season is also the time studios trot out films with Oscar hopes, including the remake of the classic Western "True Grit" (Christmas Day).
For people whose eyes glaze over at the mention Academy Award hopefuls, don't worry. There are a few mindless action films hitting multiplexes this
