Marketed as a 'male sexual stimulant,' product contains hidden drug ingredient
SILVER SPRING, Md., Nov. 19, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says Vigor-25, a product marketed as a natural dietary supplement to enhance male sexual performance, should not be purchased or used because it contains sildenafil, the active ingredient in the prescription drug Viagra.

Sildenafil may interact with prescription drugs known as nitrates, including nitroglycerin, and can dangerously lower blood pressure. The FDA is investigating the reported death of a 26-year old man, possibly associated with the use of Vigor-25.
Vigor-25, distributed by Piston Corp., is sold on Internet sites and possibly in some retail outlets.
"This product is dangerous to consumers because it claims to contain only natural ingredients when it actually contains a prescription drug ingredient," said Deborah M. Autor, director of the Office of Compliance in the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. "Tainted products place consumers at risk of injury and death, especially those consumers with underlying health conditions."

Do the federal or state governments charge/prosecute people who buy precription meds online?

I was about to hit the 'confirm' order on a website and order some Xanax (online without a prescription) when a voice in my head told me to check Custom's website concerning the legality of this. Turns out, it's a federal offense to import. Probably a state offense also. Thank god I knew this before the FBI came 'a knocking.
Notwithstanding the complete lack of wisdom demonstrated by the FDA and congress, I am curious if small time persons, such as whom I almost was, ever actually get prosecuted for this? I know its a crime, do DA's and AAG's actually file for 30 viagra, Zoloft, Xanax, or whatever?
And, to all the FBI/Customs/etc. people reading this. I assure you that I DO NOT have any pending orders with foreign doctors and/or pharmacies. This is just an intellectual musing.

I am simply asking whether people actually get prosecuted for this. No, I do not have an order pending. As I previously stated, I am simply curious whether people who do not have my research skills or the forethought to stop themselves are likely to face charges.
Seems like you kinda answered your own question. I don't think that you can get in trouble for reordering meds online through a legit pharmacy, but it's a good thing that you did your homework before.
